Gorgeous Residence at Praia d'El Rey (Part III)
Praia d'El Rey, Óbidos, Portugal
This house with contemporary features dared to combine the modernity of its lines with various types of natural stone, revealing a great knowledge of finishes: from the timeless Thassos White (Part I), to the modern Black Slate when honed (Part II), passing through the Golden Cream marble forced to rustic because it is lined split-face.
Outside, and contrasting with the smooth surfaces of the interior, irregular finishes in the Golden Cream marble: the same material was lined split-face for the facades, bush hammered for the floor, and honed for covering spans and capping walls. Each edge or corner piece has been detailed in drawing to ensure perfect alignments or squares. You can see light rip in the facade that let light into bathroom windows (that way normal glass could be used instead of frosted glass), pavement areas that end up in the grass with the same irregularity as the facade pieces, electricity boxes with doors covered in the same lined split-face material as the facade (the thickness has been reduced for this purpose),… ecc!
The set is unique, the architect is to be congratulated, and the work carried out by our team was exemplary.
